The first BOKS International EMEA Regional Meeting was held in Cyprus recently, bringing together 35 delegates from accounting, legal and corporate finance firms from across the region.

In contrast to many international network events, the focus of the day was once again on networking and creating closer ties between members.

After a warm welcome from the host firms, delegates were also joined by Costas Iocovou, the head of the Deputy Ministry for Shipping, who outlined the tax and legal benefits available to commercial shipping operations, and the expected impact on the economy of intensive oil and gas explorations within its territorial waters.

However, much of the day was spent bringing together and developing a new understanding between our alliance members.

Outlining the main aims of the alliance for 2019, Richard Sergeant, Alliance Director, was clear of our ambition to have 70 member firms and be within 12 months of entering the top 20 list of international organisations. Adding “We’ve seen amazing growth since the 2018 inaugural conference in London, and are confident in our approach to provide the best networking for members, and access to quality services for their clients globally”.

“We’re also delighted to see that members are keen to share and grow best practice through the new committees, and indeed doing more digitally to maximise the available opportunities and take full advantage of building strong connections while geographically apart”

The next global conference is to be held in Kuala Lumpur in September.
