Although the COVID-19 vaccine in Indonesia is free and open to all Indonesian people, the distribution of the vaccination process in the country has been slow, particularly in the more remote areas away from the cities.

The slow rollout is due mainly to two challenges: Indonesia is an archipelago country with lots of islands, and because of mistrust in the population of whether or not the vaccine is Halal, general misinformation in the press about the vaccine, and concerns around vaccine efficacy.

Considering these challenges, the alumni association of Padjajaran University (Alumni Muda Padjajaran) took some initiatives to speed up the process by visiting areas remote with a concerted pro-vaccination campaign and to make it easier for people to get access to vaccinations.

The organisation held mass immunisations events in four areas in West Java during October, fully supported by the West Java Public Health Office of the Ministry of Health. This initiative was called the ‘Vaksinasi Keliling Desa’ program. KAP Tambunan & Nasafi supported the mass immunisation program by providing funds.

KAP Tambunan & Nasafi’s statement reads: “Thank you to all of our Clients and Stakeholders, who were able to participate in the ‘Vaksinasi Keliling Desa’ program. We are looking forward to performing continuous CSR programs in the future. Dare to start with a small step; the small step will make a greater impact.”
