In March 2026, Irena Kolárová launched KOLAROVA LEGAL, a boutique law firm in the centre of Prague built around senior expertise, personal responsibility, and uncompromising quality.

As a BOKS International member in Czechia, the firm supports clients on complex legal matters at home and across borders. In this interview, Irena discusses the launch of the firm, its specialist focus, the changing legal profession, and the value of trusted international collaboration.

March 2026 was a significant moment for Irena Kolárová: the launch of KOLAROVA LEGAL, a boutique law firm she set up in the center of Prague after more than 23 years working in law. Irena used to be a founding partner at Eppinger Kolárová Legal, but she decided to start her own firm. She wanted to create a company that reflects her values, her way of working, and the kind of service she has always believed clients deserve.

“I wanted to create a firm where the quality of advice is never sorted by size,” she says. “A place where every client gets the senior lawyer they were promised.”

Joining her at the firm are Senior Associates Radek Wejmelka and Dominika Pacovská.  A team with deep expertise across the firm’s core practice areas. Now we are team of 9 experienced lawyers with different expertise.

What does KOLAROVA LEGAL actually do?

The firm specializes in the areas where the most important decisions are made – holding structures, mergers and acquisitions, trust funds, corporate and contract law, shareholder disputes, litigation, and asset protection. A significant part of the work is cross-border structuring of international holdings, advising transactions that span multiple jurisdictions, and supporting clients who operate across Europe and beyond.

Who are your clients?

“Most of my clients are business owners and founders. They have created businesses and they need a lawyer who understands the legal side of things, but also the business logic behind their decisions. They’re not looking for a firm that covers everything; they’re looking for a firm that is genuinely excellent in the areas that matter to them.”

On the future of the profession:

“The legal profession is changing, and we are changing with it. We use AI tools to work more efficiently – but we use them carefully. Data security is very important, and AI is not a lawyer. It supports our work, but it does not replace the judgment, strategy making, responsibility, and expertise that our clients are paying for.”

Growth strategy and the next five years:

The plan is simple: do excellent work, build trust, and grow at a pace that never compromises quality. We are not trying to be the biggest. In five years, I want KOLAROVA LEGAL to be the firm that clients – from the Czech Republic and abroad – go to when the situation is difficult and important. A company that always gets it right, not just gets it done.”

What is your biggest challenge?

Building a new firm from scratch while maintaining the same standard of work that clients have come to expect. There are no shortcuts. Every brief, every transaction, every client relationship either builds the reputation or erodes it.

Why BOKS International?

Czech clients are doing more business abroad, and international clients need a trusted local partner who understands both the Czech legal environment and the broader European context. BOKS gives us that network. It is not a directory; it is a community of firms and great lawyers that genuinely work together.

In five years, I believe BOKS will be even more relevant as cross-border matters become the norm rather than the exception, the value of a trusted, high-quality international network only grows.
