We asked Scott Wentz to answer our questions some key issues in the accountancy sector.

In your opinion, what is the future for the accounting profession?
Automation of tax filings and accounting – not there yet but not far off.

What is your growth strategy?
Grow internationally and focus on inbound business into the US.

Where do you see your firm 5 years from now?
We hope to remain a place where clients feel they will continue to get responsive, accurate advice that they need.

What is your biggest challenge?
People are the biggest challenge and maintaining quality individuals for the work required.

What percentage of your work is international?
80% of the work is international.

What business advisory services do you offer?
We offer advisory for using/setting up captive insurance companies; implementation of accounting software (NetSuites/XERO/QuickBooks); and CFO advisory services.

What was your main driver for being part of BOKS International?
It is important to be able to reach out to quality groups around the world that can assist clients who are operating in different countries. This was the reason and driver behind joining BOKS.

Where do you see BOKS International 5 years from now?
We hope to see BOKS growing and being considered a brand that can be depended on in many countries and locations.

How would you describe your typical client?
Non public in the US – but corporate and international. Looking for solutions in the United States and trying to do processes that add value to the organization.

Tell us about a recent international assignment
Public company in Australia that had expanded into the US via a reverse take over of a US tech company. We assisted on the tax, accounting and general advising of common practices for the finance group for doing business in the US.

How do you target clients who are looking for international services?
We rely on referrals, going to other countries and visiting clients and using word of mouth to ensure we have a constant flow of new work and clients.

Do you specialise in a particular sector or service?
In the tax area we specialize in the area of intellectual property and ensuring that it is maintained in tax friendly jurisdictions. This is done through understanding the company’s business and the supply chain for the particular business.
