BC&MC Law and International Business Consulting Ltda have shared with BOKS details of an exciting investment opportunity in Chile called “The Plastic Evolution” which is due to launch on February 21st that may be of interest to BOKS members’ clients and contacts. BC&MC has kindly offered to provide guidance and support to firms who may wish to participate in the initiative.
The Plastic Evolution is an open innovation call for circular, sustainable and disruptive solutions for containers and packaging in Chile and Latin America, managed by ChileGlobal Ventures and organised by the Chilean Plastics Pact in conjunction with Fundación Chile.
Start-up businesses from anywhere in the world that offer solutions are eligible to submit proposals to two key recycling challenges; circular solutions for plastic containers and packaging, and/or solutions to increase the recycling of containers and packaging that have been in contact with food.
The ChileGlobal Ventures teams and representatives chosen by the Chilean Plastics Pact will evaluate submissions and determine which solutions proceed to the next round. Meetings hosted by the judges will then follow to learn more about the pre-selected projects and start-ups themselves.
The winners will gain access to leading Chilean producers of plastic containers and packaging and members of the PCP. They can test or pilot their solution and gain visibility of opportunities for exchange with the Plastics Pact Global Network, coordinated by Fundación Chile, in which the Ellen MacArthur Foundation will participate.
The Chilean Plastics Pact, Circula el Plástico, is the Chilean element of the International Network of Plastic Pact. This global initiative unites organisations that participate in the different life cycle stages and the ecosystem of plastic containers and packaging. The purpose of the initiative is to change the current linear model to a circular model; reducing, on the one hand, the extraction of natural resources and on the other plastic waste, simultaneously preserving its value in the market with the highest quality and longest possible duration.
The Plastic Evolution is a public-private initiative supported by InvestChile, which is also part of the PCP. InvestChile is promoting the investment opportunity so that overseas companies may contribute to the infrastructure or capital requirements for implementing these initiatives in Chile.
